Amazing perfumery tour Sentosa? The treetop walk at MacRitchie Reservoir is a big project and a pioneer of its genre in Singapore. Standing 25 metres high and at 250 metres long, the wooden walkway bridge gives you the opportunity to see Singapore in a different way: without one tall building in sight – just a fantastic panoramic view of the forest with its many interesting animals. It takes at least 3 hours to fully enjoy the treetop walk at a distance of around 7 km. Gardens by the Bay is a huge, colourful, futuristic park in the bay area of Singapore; and has won countless architecture awards. The famous Supertree structures offer an impressive skywalk over the gardens, over-sized seashell-shaped greenhouses recreate chilly mountain climates and there are hundreds of trees and plants to discover, making this destination great fun for both kids and adults.
One could be forgiven for coming to Singapore and doing nothing but shopping, as this is a world-class city for style and designer chic. The Orchard Road area is a great place to start a shopping spree, as there are high-end stores at every turn. You’d expect nothing less from a neighborhood that boasts 22 malls and six department stores. There are also four movie theaters, including an IMAX, and a KTV karaoke. If you get hungry while burning through all that cash, there are plenty of eateries in the neighborhood serving international cuisines.
Opened in 1937, this weird and wonderful park was named after its owners, Aw Boon Haw and Aw Boon Par, the brothers who made their fortune from the acclaimed cure-all ointment Tiger Balm. Multicoloured statues and tableaux – some looking rather neglected – depict scenes from Chinese mythology. The highlight is the Ten Courts of Hell (responsible for childhood nightmares for generations of Singaporeans) where dioramas showing human sinners being punished in a variety of hideous and bloodthirsty ways – in extremely gory and graphic detail. It’s a safe bet that you will never see anything like it anywhere else.

There is a TWG Tea outlet in every terminal at Changi Airport too. Apart from the stores in the country’s airport, the remaining outlets are in the Central Business District, so finding one wouldn’t be a hassle. Just a heads up, ready some cash as their products are quite pricey! Stop by their café for a cuppa and you might find yourself leaving with bags of their products. You can find a plethora of tea flavours, either in the form of tea bags or loose tea leaves (from SGD 10). Base Notes are the fragrances that solidifies the whole perfume. It ties very well with the middle note which enhances the scent even more. Base notes have the heaviest fragrances such as vanilla, amber, sandalwood, musk, etc. These deep and rich scents can overpower or blend with all of the other fragrances of the perfume. It is the one that ties up the perfume into one. Depending on the character of the perfume, the base notes allow the perfume to last from 4 hours to several days. The drydown is the process wherein all the fragrances come out as one. Since the smell of the fragrances change in an hour or so, drydown will determine how well the perfume blends in with the person’s skin chemistry. Perfumers also add aromatic components, or fixatives, to establish the longevity of the perfume.
